Tuesday 7th - bike ***** - Felixstowe circuit via Falkenham Church – Sunny start followed by cloud with showers.

Had a nice phone last night from a windsurfing mate Peter of many years to see if we were free today as light winds forecast for a bike ride here in Felixstowe with possibly fish and chips for lunch with his wife Gill:) We woke to a nice sunny day and thankfully the good winds of the last few days had gone so I could do my exercises in the back garden before Peter and Gill arrived at ten in their nice new campervan and swanky electric bikes! We had a great catch up in the back garden with a cuppa before setting off on our bikes as the sun disappears. Heading down to the very busy prom we slalom around the crowds, not overly pleasant! Then around to The Dip stopping for a quick chat we some neighbours/friends at their beach hut and onto Felixstowe Ferry always a nice spot as we watched the action, the ferry crossing, dinghies and yachts sailing with youngsters crabbing! Then onto the much quieter Deben river path where we bump into a long acquaintance Roger out birdwatching then turn off on the third footpath to Falkenham Church where we take a few minutes admiring the view with ‘Emily’ sadly see could not enjoy it as she was buried here in the 1800’s!!!! We then take a variety of footpaths and bridle ways back to Trimley, down Grimstone lane where we have to stop at the level crossing for a fast-new train heading to Ipswich! Onto the tree lines path down to Felixstowe docks where we have to wait at the double level crossing as three container trains are moving about. It was then down to seafront to the fish and shop, the Regent which was sadly shut so we returned home for a cuppa. By this time, we didn’t fancy Fish and chips so had scrambled egg as starving after having been out on the bikes for four hours! Peter and Gill then go for fish and chips to end a lovely day:)

PS – we had a spin on Peter electric bike and were amazed by the power, we will have a couple at sometime in the future!
